Most homeowners have at one time or another experienced the utter frustration of having snow trucks dump snow in front of their driveway – particularly so if one has just finished shovelling the driveway itself. That hard pile of snow is called a ‘windrow’.
Markham currently has a program in place whereby seniors and those with disabilities can have their windrow cleared at no charge.
What I would advocate?
- Have the entire width of the driveway cleared. It makes no sense to merely clear a single car width
- Do a proper study (as opposed to the shoddy one done in 2012) to consider the cost impact of clearing all windrows city-wide
